Lockheed Martin Manufactuting Engineer/ Tool Design Lead / Orlando, FL in Orlando, Florida
Description: Lockheed Martin is seeking a Mfg. Engineer Staff/Tool Design Lead to support the Machining Operations Center (MOC) located within the Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) Orlando, FL facility. MOC produces ultra-precision machined components that are the foundation of infrared and electro-optical targeting systems used primarily for defense applications. The parts supplied by this center support sales in excess of $1B annually.
Job Performance Profile:
•Collaborate with engineering, production and other key stakeholders for the conceptualization, design, and fabrication of special tools, holding fixtures, assembly fixtures, and inspection gauges necessary for the manufacture of precision machined components.
•Create, oversee, and/or review detailed tool design drawings, complete with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
•Coordinate priorities and provide technical leadership and guidance to tool design staff and toolmakers.
•Estimate, monitor, and periodically report on tool design and fabrication projects to leadership.
•Serve as tooling/fixture design Subject Matter Expert (SME).
•Perform other duties as assigned.
•Willingness to learn and receive training, and when required, train others.
•(9) yrs experience in design and fabrication of holding fixtures, assembly fixture, inspection gauges and other special tools required for the manufacture of components by multi-axis CNC lathes, CNC mills, mill-turns, EDM’s, and other similar precision equipment.
•Advanced understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
•Advanced ability utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) – PTC Creo or equivalent.
•Good interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
•Effective project management and leadership skills.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
•Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering/Technology or equivalent experience/combined education.
•PTC Creo CAD
•Tool & Die apprenticeship
•Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools, including Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
•Experience working on projects with teams as a leader and participant
•Familiarity with ISO9000 and AS9100 industry standards, and common military specifications.
