Lockheed Martin Program Management Director / Sensor Systems Technology (SST) / Applied Research in Orlando, Florida
Description: MFC is seeking a Program Management Director to lead and grow the Sensor Systems Technology (SST) activities for Missiles and Fire Control as well as direct all Applied Research activities in Orlando, FL. The position requires the ability to act as a Technical Contributor, a Research Engineering Director and as a Program Director. This position will establish and lead all SST CRAD/IRAD pursuits as well as all programs and activities within Applied Research in Orlando. The emphasis of this position will be on technologies related to sensors, seekers and image/signal processing; but it will also require development of discriminating technologies in support of all areas within Missiles and Fire Control.
This position is located in Orlando, FL and requires approximately 20% travel.
The successful candidate must be able to establish the vision and strategy for SST; but must also be able to set and manage the tactical execution of all efforts within the directorate. The candidate must be able to think “out of the box” to come up with new, unique and novel technology ideas/solutions/combinations that can be used to create new programs/markets. A critical part of this job will be to identify, capture and execute new CRAD programs then transition them into significant, new business. The job requires extensive interaction with DoD labs (especially DARPA); thus, a substantial knowledge of DoD labs, their organizations, offices, directors, program managers, SETA contractors and technical thrusts is required (especially DARPA).
This job requires a strong and broad technical background, as there will be efforts in each of the following areas - as a minimum:
-Sensor technologies involving all wavelengths of EO/IR spectrum
-Synthetic Aperture Radar image processing
-Focal Plane Array technology
-Read-Out Integrated Circuits (ROICs) – digital and analog
-Advanced electronics and processors
-Advanced and/or multi-purpose materials
-Image, data and signal processing; 2D and 3D processing
-Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs)
-Target ID; Aided/Automatic target recognition
-Modeling and simulation (including Hardware in the Loop (HWIL) and Software in the Loop (SWIL))
-Rapid prototyping and system integration
-Guidance, navigation and control; aerodynamics
-GPS and GPS-denied operation
-Low cost manufacturing & Low cost prototyping
This job also requires substantial knowledge of, and interaction with, the MFC Lines of Business (LOBs), Technology Council, Advanced/Special Programs, their program managers and technologists. SST must come up with new and innovative technology pursuits – then turn those ideas into new, funded programs. A key part of this job will be to develop key technology discriminators that will enable the LOBs to create new business opportunities.
The successful candidate will be expected to function in a dynamic, aggressively scheduled, business environment that requires efficient and effective decision making based upon customer needs and available funding. The successful candidate must be able to build relationships with multiple parties, at all levels while effectively influencing and demonstrating leadership skills.
Desired Skills: Existing Top Secret or Secret clearance is highly desirable
Previous experience as a DARPA Program Manager and or SETA

Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
The candidate must have experience setting the vision and strategy for a complex and diverse technical area. The successful candidate must have an established track record of identifying and capturing new CRAD programs and transitioning them into significant, new business.
The successful candidate must have substantial experience with all areas of business capture and a track record of developing new ideas, identifying potential customers, creating win themes targeting those customers, pulling together capture plans and executing those plans – resulting in new business.
The candidate must have clear experience successfully leading complex, cutting edge technology programs and understand the unique technical/cost/schedule intricacies associated with inventing new technologies.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, have strong verbal and written communication skills and have experience with new business capture.
A very strong and broad technical background in multiple, high-tech, defense-related fields
Candidate must be an “out of the box” thinker with an established track record of generating new, unique and novel technology ideas/solutions/combinations that can be used to create new programs/markets or extend the capability/life of existing programs
Experience identifying and incubating relevant, cutting-edge technology and/or integrating existing COTS/GOTS technology into new, and existing, programs to create technological discriminators
A history of working with universities and small businesses to mature new technologies and integrate them into marketable products.
The candidate must have demonstrated success in creating, winning and executing R & D programs from DARPA and/or Government Laboratories
Significant, relevant experience with, and knowledge of, DARPA, its offices, directors, program managers, SETA contractors and technical thrusts.
The successful candidate must fully embrace Full Spectrum Leadership and build relationships with multiple parties while effectively influencing and demonstrating leadership skills. Other requirements include:
