Lockheed Martin SQL Server Database and Windows System Administrator in Orlando, Florida
Description: This 1st shift position is for an experienced team member skilled in SQL Server and Windows Administration. Strong emphasis will be on SQL Server and Windows Administration with opportunities to learn and grow in other Front Line Support roles and domains. Will work in an organization geared toward virtual support and collaboration across geographically dispersed teams in different time zones.
Support will soon include on-call and weekend support responsibilities for Windows Server or SQL Server, depending on organizational needs.
Responsibilities will also include working with ServiceNow (our chosen tool for incident, problem, and change tracking), collaborating with team members and customers of widely varying skillsets, and interfacing with team and technical leads as well as with management.
This role will be well suited for a team player who is capable of independent planning and work, and who is interested in further developing his/her technical, and/or team leadership skills. This role will also eventually add Oracle and Linux Administrator responsibilities.
SQL Server Support Responsibilities:
--- Provide support for Windows Server and SQL Server physical and virtual instances. Includes advanced troubleshooting and server restart roles.
--- Participate in emergency Return to Service (RTS) calls and work efforts, including supporting end users, customers, management, and fellow support technicians.
--- Participate in and frequently take a project lead role in the planning and implementation of new SQL Server instances, patching, and automation efforts for SQL Server and occasionally for Windows Server
--- Frequently plan, support, help execute, and/or lead the Windows Server and/or SQL Server Disaster Recovery (DR) plan
--- This role will include the maintenance and support of security policies, responding to vulnerability questions, issues, and audit findings, and assisting leaders and customers with database security and vulnerability matters.
--- Administering and working Incident and Problem records
--- Administering and working Change Requests
--- Participating in 24X7 On Call rotation
--- Regularly plan, administer, and execute Disaster Recovery tests and help to maintain DR documentation.
--- Learn and take on responsibilities with Oracle and Linux
--- Frequently lead projects, work efforts, and/or teams
--- Responsibilities will also include interfacing with the service center leadership and staff. Other responsibilities may be volunteered for or assigned as required to support the organization.
--- Proven experience of SQL Server and Windows Server environments (physical, virtual, and/or cloud-based)
--- Firm understanding of advanced relational database concepts such as logging, recovery, database structures, and security
--- Advanced Experience with scripting (T-SQL, Powershell, Python, Splunk, or others)
--- Advanced with SQL Server patching, monitoring, and automation tools
--- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
--- Basic usage knowledge of any major office product suite
--- Data Center Operations or O&M experience
--- Advanced understanding of Relational Database concepts such as (but not limited to) proper structure creation, maintenance, coding efficient SQL, backup, logging, and recovery
--- Firm understanding of or work experience with DevOps and Agile Development concepts
--- Firm understanding of or work experience with ITIL concepts and tools (such as Service Now or Remedy)
--- Very good written and oral communications skills
--- Excellent documentation skills
--- Ability to take on a technical leadership role for certain projects
--- Ability to work on an off shift schedule for emergency and surge support
--- Ability to participate in 24X7 on-call and emergency support roles
--- Ability to shadow with less experienced team members to transfer knowledge and skills
--- Capability of independent study, research, and problem investigation
