Lockheed Martin System Safety Engineer / Orlando, FL in Orlando, Florida

Description: Lockheed Martin is seeking a System Safety Engineer to support our Sensors & Global Sustainment – Advanced Program (SGS-AP).

Responsibilities may include:

-Performance of System/Subsystem Hazard analyses (SHA/SSHA), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), bent pin analysis/energy trace

-Support to Flight Test Demo

-Development of Safety Assessment Reports (SAR) and Hazardous Materials Management Plan (HMMP)

-Update of System Safety Program Plan (SSPP)

-Execution of the Software SSPP in support of obtaining safety certification for weapon fielding

-Interface with software engineering and electrical engineering to influence the software/firmware development process and design for safety compliance

-Development, interpretation, and flow-down of System Safety requirements

-Software safety planning, SW safety hazard assessments, AOP-52 SW Safety Design Criteria compliance assessments, and Code Hazard Analysis

-Compliance with DO-178C Process

-Execution of Software Level of Rigor (LOR) assignments in support of software/firmware

-Implementation of programmable logic device safety requirements

-Support to the Joint Services- Software Safety Authorities (JS-SSA) to achieve Software Safety Certification

-Preparation for the U.S Government Safety Review Boards (develop technical data package & presentation)

-Support to design & test readiness reviews

-Review & influence of test procedures for safety

-Support of all related reviews to include but not limit to system safety working groups (SSWG), PDR, CDR, and TRRs, program reviews, and safety boards (NNMSB, SSSTRP, AWSESRB).

Basic Qualifications:

Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret clearance.

Bachelors degree from an accredited college OR equivalent combination of professional experience with combined education.

Candidate must have at least 2 years of professional experience.

System Safety experience with one or more of the following:

-Developing & interpreting System Safety requirements.

-Flow-down of requirements

-Performing Safety Hazard analyses.

-Ability to influence hardware and software design for safety.

Additional required experience includes:

-Effective analytical problem solving skills.

-Proficiency with computer skills including Microsoft suite of applications, including Excel Pivot Tables.

-Strong written and oral communication skills.

Desired Skills:

-Active Department of Defense Secret clearance.

-Previous experience with logistics and system safety in accordance with MIL-STD-882E for DoD military products.

-Previous experience performing System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Threat Hazard Assessment (THA), bent pin analysis/energy trace

-Flight Test support experience

-Previous experience developing Safety Assessment Reports (SAR) and System Safety Program Plans.

-Software Safety analysis per AMCOM 385-17 and AOP 52.

-Experience preparing for U.S Government Safety Review Boards (develop technical data package & presentation).

-Demonstrated ability of solving complex problems which require ingenuity and innovation.
