Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Engineer Asc in Palmdale, California

Description: Candidate must be a self-starter and very motivated to develop and apply computational and analytical tools to enhance the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Rapid Conceptual Design (RCD) suite of tools. These tools will be used to support aircraft conceptual design, particularly vehicle configuration layout, aircraft sizing, optimization, trade study execution, and sensitivity analysis. The individual will additionally work with CATIA V5 and proprietary analysis systems coupled with the RCD toolset to develop aircraft configurations and execute conceptual design trade studies on multiple programs. Experience and a basic understanding of aircraft conceptual design is required. Programming ability and experience in at least one structured computer language (e.g. FORTRAN, C++, C##, Java, Python, etc.) is required. Programming experience in multiple structured computer languages, as well as the ability to learn new languages is preferred. Familiarity with using a source control system (such as GIT) is desired. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

Previous experience using ModelCenter, Modefrontier, Isight or OpenMDAO to integrate multiple analysis tools in design space trade studies is desired. Experience with mainstream aerospace CAD tools is desired (ability to use CATIA V5 is preferred), and the individual selected will be required to build these skills in the position.
