Lockheed Martin Conceptual Design Engineer Sr in Palmdale, California

Candidate must be a self-starter, with experience in aircraft conceptual design. This individual must be very motivated to apply the fundamentals of aircraft conceptual design, particularly configuration layout, aircraft sizing, optimization, trade study execution, and sensitivity analysis. The engineer selected for this position will have an extensive aerospace engineering background, coupled with CATIA V5 experience, preferably doing complex 3D surface modeling and lofting, as well as air vehicle internal arrangement and packaging suitable for the conceptual phase of design.

In addition to vehicle configuration development, the individual will work with legacy analysis systems coupled with newer tools in the LM Aero Rapid Conceptual Design process, using them to execute conceptual design trade studies on multiple programs.

Previous experience with advanced aircraft conceptual development is desired, and an understanding of the integration of survivability technologies, propulsion systems, subsystems, sensors, and payloads is preferred. Experience on production programs in a coordination role is also favorable. Clear communication skills are an absolute necessity. Candidate should have excellent presentation skills and be able to brief configuration rationale, assumptions, and other assignment details to management and customer representatives.

Must be a US Citizen, position is located at a facility that requires special access. Selected applicant must be able to qualify for a Secret Security Clearance.

Desired Skills: -Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering or technical industry related field

-Experienced with ModelCenter, JMP and text-based legacy engineering analysis tools

-Excellent presentation skills

-Experienced in at least one programming language (Java or FORTRAN or C++).


-Bachelor's or above degree in a technical or scientific discipline

-Experienced with Microsoft Office products

-Experience with CATIA V5 or other CAD software
