Description: Determines methods and sequences of test operations, lays out and fabricates circuit bread boards, assembles, diagnoses trouble, repairs, modifies, adjusts, calibrates, operates, installs, tests and evaluates, and checks out complex functional systems such as mockups of entire prototype and production electrical and electronic systems and equipment, complete generator systems, and maintains integrated instrumentation systems containing such circuit components as transducers, instrument-type amplifiers, analog and digital recording and software/hardware related devices, computers and automatic plotting equipment in areas such as wind tunnels, whirl tower, and drop tower, where required engineering information is not complete, procedures and standards are not fully established, and it is required to exercise a thorough and complete knowledge of applicable electrical and electronic theory and of research laboratory practices and procedures and a broad practical knowledge of the construction and checkout of electrical and electronic systems, circuits, and instrumentation under engineering laboratory conditions.
Collaborates with others in the correction of problems related to design errors or malfunctions of items of prototype or production electrical and electronic systems, as the changing technology requires.
Fabricates, installs and maintains low and high temperature thermocouple systems. Maintains, repairs, and modifies micro-miniature electronic test devices, systems and subsystems as applied to micro-miniature electronic products.
Sets up and operates equipment and assists engineers and others in conducting tests as directed. Records data, surveys equipment for physical and electrical information, and makes sketches as required.
Sets up and operates power tools to manufacture any item required for research and development programs in the area described herein
Fabricates items such as harnesses, panels, chassis, mounting racks and bracketry
Experience with structural static, dynamic, and fatigue test techniques as well as supporting instrumentation for fluid dynamics, cryogenics, environmental, high vacuum, thermo, impact, vibration and acoustical tests.
Experience in strain gage work using the wire element, foil, weldable, fatigue, multiplier and semi-conductor gages involving the critical location, application, bridging and calibration of test specimens and special purpose load cells and testing of setups using strain gage type accelerometers.
Must be familiar with basic knowledge of computer language and operation, also hybrid simulation computer and peripheral equipment.
Must be familiar with optoelectronic circuits, fabrication and termination of fiber optic cables.
