This GN&C engineer position is with our Historic Skunk Works in Palmdale, California. This is a VMS lead engineer position for the Flight Controls/Vehicle Management System for an aerospace vehicle program.

Candidate responsibilities include leadership for guidance, navigation and control (GN&C) algorithm design, analysis, modeling and simulation for an aerospace vehicle program, including development of optimum trajectory guidance laws. Candidate will also be responsible for management of VMS (vehicle management system) integration and test, including the System Integration Laboratory development and integration, and V&V efforts. Further responsibilities include coordination with partner companies, and management of related research efforts. The Candidate will represent program Flight Controls to company management and maintain good working relationships with program customers.

The selected candidate must have expertise and experience in the following technical areas: stability and control analysis; flying qualities criteria; 6-DOF simulation models development; flight control law design for stability augmentation, autopilot/autonomous operations; and model-based software development using Matlab/Simulink.

Working knowledge and experience in software programming, real-time simulation system integration, and the application of modern control synthesis methods such as dynamic inversion for practical implementation are highly desirable.

Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. Active Secret Clearance is required prior to start, with the ability to obtain a Secret SAP/SAR clearance/access

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors or advanced degree in an engineering/technical discipline from an accredited college

Experience in Control Systems, Flight Dynamics and Matlab/Simulink

Experience in aircraft technical development projects.

Active Secret Clearance is required prior to start, with the ability to obtain a Secret SAP/SAR clearance/access

Desired Skills:

Prior experience in hypersonic flight regime.

Handling Qualities experience

Familiarity with flight worthy software development process

Full Spectrum leader

Masters' Degree or above in Aeronautical Engineering

Presentation skills and experience interfacing with customers.

Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to establish working relationships with all levels of company personnel

Excellent communications skills with ability to effectively interact with team members and customers
