Lockheed Martin Industrial Hygienist and Safety Engineer in Palmdale, California
Description: The selected candidate will be responsible for selecting methods and instrumentation for conducting evaluations and monitoring of potential workplace exposures (e.g. hazardous materials, radiation, noise, and vibration), and performing calculations and analysis to evaluate exposures.
Must be able to recognize, eliminate, evaluate and control occupational health and safety hazards and environmental factors arising in the workplace from existing or new construction, projects and processes.
Analyzes and presents specific conclusions and recommendations to management.
Performs workplace hazard analyses and determines personal protective equipment and environmental controls.
Develops and implements safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions, using knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and industrial health and safety laws.
Examines plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment, facilities, to determine if all safety precautions have been included.
Performs ventilation surveys.
Participates in team-based ergonomic evaluations, and performs and coordinates office ergo evaluations.
Investigates workplace accidents and close calls.
Develops communications and assists supervision in educating employees on occupational health and safety procedures and precautions.
Follows up on implementation of improvements.
Interprets health and safety regulations and company procedures, and provides technical support.
Writes and updates safety and health manuals and procedures.
Performs audits and inspections.
Supports aerospace programs to provide environmental, safety and health solutions. Works independently and with teams. Occasional travel required.
MUST BE A US CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent experience in the Environmental Safety and Helath related field.
Experience working with Industrial Hygiene instrumentation and monitoring methods.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Entry level working knowledge Occupational Safety and Health regulations and safety programs
Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills
