Lockheed Martin MATERIAL REVIEW BOARD INVESTIGATOR in Palmdale, California

Description: Processes nonconformance documents for withheld items and makes independent decisions and/or coordinates with MRB Quality Engineering for dispositions not requiring Material Review Board action; contacts designated Engineering, Procurement and Customer Representatives, and where applicable, contacts suppliers as required to accomplish satisfactory disposition of withheld items; collaborates with Planning for processing of rework requirements preparatory to disposition of nonconforming items, considering such factors as value, need, interchangeability, appearance, frequency of previous rejections, effectiveness of corrective action, cost of rework and extend of deviation from quality standards.

May recommend disposition to the Material Review Board. Collaborates in the final decision to either scrap withheld items, rework or return to vendor (RTV) and submits disposition to customer MRB member for approval as required; verifies that withholding documents are complete and in accordance with applicable procedures and policies.

Basic Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of two years shop experience relating to knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes and/or basic purchasing, manufacturing and inspection documentation such as shop orders, Production Inspection Records (PIR’s), Quality Assurance Records (QAR’s) and Inspection Data Delivery Records (IDDR’s).

Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of or have completed training in the following job skills: Blueprint Reading II, Basic Computer Operations, Inspection Orientation, and Effective Communication, Coordination and Writing Skills.

Must be a US Citizen or legally authorized to work in US as a permanent resident. This position is located at a facility that requires special access

Prepares and files completed documentation, indicating disposition and corrective action as required.

Initiates action for Material Surveys.

Logs and tracks nonconforming material and documents in process; posts related documents for inspection and/or rework; recovers and details history of defects for customer and others when assigned.

Operates a computer workstation and related state-of-the-art office equipment.

Utilizes various precision measuring tools and equipment as required to verify conformity of parts and materials to Engineering criteria.
