This Systems Engineer works in a production environment to address problems and challenges encountered during assembled missile and re-entry system (RES) hardware handling, assembly, disassembly, inspection, testing and repair operations. The role provides unique real world experiences within an exclusive RES field. The Systems Engineer position includes working both indoors and outdoors in Lockheed Martin and United States Navy operated buildings, and involves a variety of work environments from on-deck engineering support during SSBN wharf operations to on the floor support in RES production buildings.
This Systems Engineer conducts and supports evaluation of missile and RES hardware drawings and associated specifications to determine acceptability of discrepant parts and various operations/tests performed. Candidate provides functional, dimensional and material analysis of missile/RES hardware. Additionally the position is very involved with processing documentation and program requirements to determine compliance, corrections and improvements. On a routine basis the candidate works directly with the hands-on ordnance mechanics as well as supporting LM, Navy and DOD/DOE liaison personnel to address questions on missile/RES design and associated production processes. Candidate also serves as an integrator during material review actions to coordinate with various supporting FBM engineering sites across the country when special analysis and investigations are needed. The job duty does not include design engineering work however must have ability to understand existing product designs and recommend changes to design engineering teams.
Missile/RES production is a major aspect of the job where the position will include development of both simple and complex engineering studies that involve process/product root cause and corrective action, data/metrics analysis and targeted program system/process improvements.
This Systems Engineer is at the Navy's Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific in Silverdale, WA and requires support to day, swing and grave shift hours as needed. Overtime weekend support is also needed to support the mission. Some travel is expected to other FBM sites, but will be infrequent. Candidate is expected to be able to perform independently and in a team environment under very general direction of a group lead. Seeking a candidate with some industry experience but who is still a learner.

• Bachelor's degree in a Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or other related Engineering degree program from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience/combined education.
• Ability to qualify for and maintain participation in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP)
• U.S. Citizenship required. Ability to qualify for and maintain a Top Secret Clearance; Interim Secret required at start.
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
• Familiarity with failure investigation and root cause identification methods
• Familiarity with material review process and control and disposition of nonconforming hardware
• Demonstrated ability to accomplish assignments independently
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
• Recent applicable security clearance
• Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
