Description: The autonomous systems engineer will be responsible for system engineering efforts to technically support the execution assigned autonomous programs.
The autonomous systems engineer will be responsible for system engineering efforts to ensure that each program develops an autonomous design that meets all customer requirements and follows standard engineering work (command media) in the development of requirements. The autonomous systems engineer shall define the allocation of requirements to all configuration items with traceability to/from the Flight Control System (FCS) performance specification, subsystem specifications, and sensor specifications. The primary work products for this group include:
• Flight Control System (FCS), Autonomy System Design Document (FCS SSDD)
• FCS/Autonomy interface design descriptions (FCS IDD)
• FCS/Autonomy subsystem, control panel, sensor specifications
• FCS/Autonomy trade studies
The autonomous systems group maintains responsibility over the design throughout the engineering lifecycle and is expected to interface regularly with customers, program leadership and other engineering disciplines (flight control systems, avionics, software, electrical, etc.)
It is preferred that autonomous systems engineer will have a background in the development of autonomy, flight control system, or avionic technical designs, requirement development, generation of design descriptions, generation/conduct of trade studies, requirement traceability, configuration control, managing engineering teams, engineering estimates, as well as system and subsystem technical reviews.
A background in aviation as a pilot, engineer or technician is desired.
