Lockheed Martin Human Factors Design Engineer in Stratford, Connecticut

Description: Sikorsky Aircraft’s Innovations and Human Factors Engineering group supports the design and evaluation of user interfaces for autonomous and optionally piloted vehicles. We’re looking for enthusiastic, intelligent, motivated and experienced human factor engineers to work with a diverse team of engineers who want to develop the next generation of user interfaces for intelligent systems.

Specific Responsibilities:

•Work with a team of engineers from various disciplines (flight controls, mechanical, flight test, pilots office, safety, etc..) to develop and test human machine user interfaces for autonomous aircraft (fixed and rotary wing).

•Research prior art and current literature/publications/research in this field; incorporate lessons learned into design concepts.

•Ability to generate graphical design concepts (using a graphical drawing program such as GL Studio, Adobe Illustrator, or other as appropriate) to address unique information awareness requirements that stem from autonomous systems.

•Incorporate human factors knowledge and expertise to research and development programs. Areas of desired domain knowledge include: human-machine teaming, dynamic function allocation, supervisory control and designing for flexible interaction between humans and automation as well as human factors engineering testing. Familiarity with Human Subjects Testing and Internal Review Boards a plus.

•Support and develop analysis data and reports for internal and customer briefings.

Desired Skills: •M.S. or Ph.D in Human Factors Engineering, or other appropriate engineering field with a Human Factors concentration.

•3 years experience in working on complex human-machine systems.

•Experience with a graphic prototyping tool such as GL Studio, Open Scene Graph and/or basic programming knowledge/experience such as Visual C+.

•Some experience or at least knowledgeable with CATIA V5.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

•Bachelor Degree in Human Factors Engineering or other appropriate engineering field with a Human Factors Concentration and 5 years of experience working on complex human-machine systems, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree

•Technical background in user interface design, autonomous systems, and/or human-machine teaming and/or machine learning.

•Demonstrated experience with coming up with human machine interface design concepts to address human engineering interface requirements.

•Experience with a graphical prototyping tool such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, GL Studio or other.

•Excellent written and oral communication skills.
