Description: This position is for an Aeronautical Engineer on the US NAVY Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program.
This position is part of Reshaping FBM and will require relocation to Colorado in 2022. The starting location is Sunnyvale, CA. Relocation assistance may be offered for the move to Colorado in 2022.
This position will lead a team of engineers in performing the following duties and functions described below.
Candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of analyses related to missile systems performance and functionality using various modeling and simulation methods. Analysis is focused on Range Safety, trajectory development, post flight analysis, and performance due to missile design changes.
Duties include maintenance and update of missile simulation software and supporting data set; writing or modifying software to support and perform specific analysis. This would include creating and maintaining software documentation (user's guides, model formulation, simulation design, etc.)
Candidate will also be responsible for creating technical memos, providing input to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, and presenting analysis results to internal engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel during technical exchange meetings.
The candidate will also provide support to the missile simulation’s user base, which includes, not only LM personnel, but various non-LM FBM contractors.
Final SECRET Clearance is a requirement for this position.
*Bachelors degree in engineering, math, physics or other related discipline.
*High proficiency and knowledge of FORTRAN (or similar)
*Strong programming experience (FORTRAN, C/C++)
*Programming experience with MATLAB (or similar).
*Demonstrated leadership with a technical team
*Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
*Good written and verbal communication skills.
*Strong interpersonal skills.
*Experience programming in UNIX/LINUX operating system (O/S) environment
*Knowledge of missile trajectory performance
*Knowledge of missile subsystem interdependencies
*Understanding of trajectory modelling and analysis
*Understanding of 3 degree of freedom and 6 degree of freedom dynamics as they relate to aerospace vehicles
*FBM program experience
