Lockheed Martin Electro-Optical Engineer - Radiometry & Remote Sensing in Sunnyvale, California
Description: Designs, analyzes, and tests optical and electro-optical systems and components. Conducts research and development into phases of physical optics and geometric optics, lasers, laser characteristics, laser maintenance, and broadband optical sources. Applies research of complex optical systems to achieve desired optical manipulations. Candidate should understand and assessed remotely sensed data and the systems and sensors producing those data. Radiometry and Remote Sensing System Engineer will help coordinate multiple efforts relating to data quality and calibration.
Demonstrated understanding of radiometric modeling and principles. Experience working with sensors, with a heavy emphasis on electro-optical imaging sensors and the data produced by them. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate and interact with a broad variety of people of widely varying levels of technical understanding. Ability to think independently. Ability to handle complex multitask environments. Evaluate vendors proposals as necessary.
Awareness and appreciation of the broad remote sensing community and policies affecting it. Experience with electro-optical imaging sensors in VLWIR (400nm – 14 um).
