Lockheed Martin Machinist, Assembler, Fabricator in Sunnyvale, California

Description: IAM Hourly represented employees who currently work at the main (Sunnyvale/Palo Alto) unit, Santa Cruz, VAFB or Eastern Range facilities must apply to open requisitions on Brass Ring to be considered for the position.

Set-up, program by manual data input and operate multi-axis CNC machines to machine details and assemblies. Assist in planning sequence of operations and machining parameters. Determine necessary cutting and assembly tools to fabricate structures, parts and assemblies.

Perform detail parts and structural assembly and installation operations. Develop shop aids to facilitate assembly and installation as required. Read and interpret detail part and assembly documents. Use operations verification to check parts and assemblies for workmanship, dimensional accuracy and compliance to requirements. Instruct others as required in the initial fabrication, machining, assembly and installation of structures. May use coordinate measurement machines. Check parts and assemblies to verify manufacturing processes have been completed to requirements. Stamp or otherwise approve acceptable items, reject unacceptable items and prepare unacceptable items for disposition.

Recommend improvement of product quality, cost, efficiency, processes, tooling and other factors affecting quality and productivity. Input measurement data to control charts and interpret process compliance to statistical verification. Utilize Corrective Action and Preventative Action Matrices and take recommended action to keep the process in control.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

1.) Requires technical knowledge equivalent to completion to an AA degree in Machine Tool Technology including studies in CNC and NC theory.

2.) Complete knowledge of setup, programming by manual data input and operation of equipment.

3.) Complete working knowledge of cutting methods and properties of composites and other metallic and nonmetallic materials.

4.) A complete working knowledge of assembly operations.

5.) Knowledge of manufacturing practices and procedures.

6.) Ability to read and interpret authorized documents which include geometric dimensioning and tolerance; use of required precision measuring instruments and gauges.

7.) Use shop math including trigonometry.

8.) Understand and apply the principles of statistics to manufacturing processes.

9.) Use charts and graphs to collect data and analyze processes.

10.) Qualification for this classification will require the successful completion of a demonstration of Knowledge and Ability.
