Lockheed Martin Manufacturing Engineer in Sunnyvale, California

Design/Create manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Design sequence of operations and specify procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency; investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations. Assist in investigating design/manufacturing factors such as equipment or part availability, manufacturability, ease of assembly, weight and cost; assist with evaluating vendor designs/processes; develop and maintain all assembly documentation; trouble shoot/correct anomalies and discrepant hardware; work with others to establish development, verification, and qualification test requirements, implement test programs, and evaluate results. Provide floor support for a mechanical manufacturing environment that includes machine shops, a sheet metal and fabrication shop, and a paint and chemical processing facility. Interface with program personnel and report project status to program leadership.

Basic Qualifications Experienced with mechanical manufacturing and mechanical assembly.

Experienced at machining, sheet metal, tooling, fabrication, and assembly.

Competent with reading mechanical engineering drawings and bill of materials.

Competent with Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances (GD&T).

Understanding of Material Resource Planning/ Enterprise Resource Planning (MRP/ERP) Systems.

Good understanding of capacity planning.

Understanding of Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM).

Ability to inspect hardware with basic Standard Measuring Instruments (SMI) such as Dial Indicators, Height Gages, Calipers, Micrometers, Surface Plates, etc.

Experienced at a senior level in Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Must be able to work in a team environment with good organizational / communication skills.

Desired skills Five years’ experience in a machine shop, assembly shop, or fabrication shop.

Very good working knowledge of Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances (GDT).

Experience with SAP or SAP/ERP Routings.

Experience writing Routings or Shop Orders.

Experience with Zeiss CMMs and Calypso software.

Knowledge of CNC and conventional machining and machine shop theory.

Experience with various Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Systems.

Experience with CAD/CAM software packages such as, Creo (Pro-E), Mastercam, Numerical Control Language (NCL).

Experience with metallic chemical processing techniques.
