As a Systems Engineer, you will provide support of MUOS constellation sustainment. MUOS is a constellation of 5 satellites operated by the United States Navy from Pt Mugu, CA. Lockheed Martin provides Space Sustainment Technical Support (technical advisors) to the constellation.
The Satellite System Engineer is a generalist within the MUOS Space System Sustainment group with experience in satellite bus subsystems. They are responsible for generating command and telemetry databases, TEMAs, MACROs, limit files and building commanding scripts to control the satellite. They will periodically monitor satellite health and status (H&S), generate monthly reports and brief the customer every quarter on the H&S of their subsystem. This position will draw upon mission operations & factory AI&T experiences with focus on a systems engineering approach to sustaining the MUOS constellation and extending the useful life of each satellite. The engineer will interface other Lockheed Martin Organizations and with the NAVY customer.
In this role, your specific tasks include:
•Supporting a constellation of five MUOS (A2100 bust) satellite. Review and trend all subsystems data, examine data for signs degradation or anomalous behavior
•Providing direct bus subsystem engineering support (TT&C, STT&C, GN&C, FSW, Power, Propulsion, and Thermal)
•Issuing weekly and monthly subsystem status & reports
•Generating satellite monthly & quarterly status report & support bi-weekly status meeting
•Reviewing each satellite telemetry weekly and provide flight spacecraft bus hardware analysis, trending, and identify and anomalous behavior
•Leading or supporting failure review boards (FRBs) investigations. Support anomaly resolution in real-time and post recovery
•Providing recommendations to the customer during anomaly resolution, power management, and any special activities.
•Writing, reviewing and approving operational procedures.
•Supporting console operations from the System Integration Lab (SIL)in Sunnyvale, CA, the MUOS Satellite Support Center (MSSC) in Denver, CO.
•Preparing reports, engineering memos, and other technical reports
•Maintaining and updating command and telemetry databases, limit files, MACROs, FSW and TEMAs
•Supporting technical (like power management) working group, anomaly response, detection, resolution and root cause analysis
•Providing administrative and technical support to FRBs, & PERBs, system engineering support for operational changes
•Periodic travel may be required.
Typically has 5 - 10 years of professional experience.

•Self starter with the ability to work across functional organizations and disciplines to resolve engineering issues
•Experience with satellite subsystems (Thermal, Power and Telemetry Tracking and Commanding Subsystems)
•Familiarity with telemetry and command database structure
•Active Secret Clearance
•Familiarity with A2100/LM2100 satellite subsystems
•CPE (Certified Principal Engineer) or delegate training completed
•Familiarity with MACRO Development and Automatic Command Script
