Lockheed Martin Space in Sunnyvale, CA has an excellent Quality Engineer opportunity to work within the Special Programs organization. Special Programs has an excellent track record of stable programs with highly evolving technical requirements that drives subcontract changes on a regular basis. This position will be responsible for performing Quality Engineering (QE) duties. This position directly supports the Quality team that provides oversight to both subcontract and procurement level suppliers and internal manufacturing and Integration & Testing (I&T) activity.
Responsible for reviewing quality requirements flow down documentation related to internal and external manufacturing processes to ensure quality products are delivered to the customer. Participates as a decision-making authority in all Material Review Boards and Failure Review Boards, including disposition of non-conforming hardware, identification of hardware containment requirements, and determination of root cause and corrective action required to prevent recurrence. Provides direct hardware QE support onsite at suppliers as required as well as to internal manufacturing and I&T operations to troubleshoot non-conformances and failures and collaboratively arrive at accurate root cause determination and effective corrective and preventive action (CAPA).
Responsible for participating in internal and external supplier assessments of processes and procedures to ensure compliance to specifications, engineering drawings, procedures and ISO-9001/AS9100. Responsible for ensuring strong process compliance exists internally and externally to reduce variability of product quality results.
Evaluates the design assurance activities and implementation of production process methodology to prevent impacts to production velocity and quality. Interfaces with customers, engineering, technicians, inspectors, suppliers and program personnel on quality related issues. Utilizes lean initiatives to reduce waste and maintain continuous improvement.

-Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in technical discipline (e.g., engineering field) or equivalent discipline (e.g., math, physics, chemistry, etc.).
-Ability to prepare and present materials at various program meetings to both touch labor and executive leadership
-Ability to lead technical efforts to analyze and resolve process issues varying from basic to very complex
-Demonstrated effective Communication Skills: Written, Oral, Listening, Technical Writing
-Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team (building effective relationships, team player, delivering results)
-Demonstrated ability to multi-task, be thorough and detail oriented, with strong job closure and analytical skills
-Current final Top Secret security clearance - with the
ability to obtain a TS/SCI w/ Poly
-Commitment to support mission requirements, including overtime on-call and odd shifts as required

-Minimum of 5 years of related technical experience: e.g. Quality Engineering / Integration & Test /
Manufacturing/System Engineering; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree.
-Demonstrated electronics hardware fabrication, assembly, integration & test experience both from a requirements flow down and hands-on support perspective. Working knowledge of Test Engineering processes.
-Demonstrated experience working with quality standards, work instructions and procedures for the inspection of manufactured products.
-Demonstrated experience applying engineering drawing and specification requirements to manufacturing work instructions clearly and accurately, in collaboration with production/manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering
-Demonstrated ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, product/performance specifications and other systems integration technical data to recognize when producibility issues will become a quality problem.
-Demonstrated knowledge and experience leading root cause analysis and corrective action development efforts
-Demonstrated ability to proactively drive change and continuous process improvement
-Demonstrated experience working in SAP (Q-notes, Production Orders), Automation Framework (AF), and EPDM
-Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with hardware test support equipment
-Experience flowing quality requirements to suppliers and subcontractors; experience providing contract oversight at suppliers and subcontractors
-Experience performing leading quality audits at suppliers and subcontractors as well as internal manufacturing centers
-Material Review Board (MRB) experience
-Knowledge of Industry recognized Quality systems such as AS9100
-Active ASQ CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) certification
-Active TS/SCI w/ Poly clearance
