Lockheed Martin System Engineer in Washington, District Of Columbia

Description: This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with the Navy customer and establish the systems engineering foundation for the command in support of the next significant modernization phase of the Strategic Weapon System. This position is responsible for supporting Systems Engineering Group (SEG) and System Engineering Transformation (SET) activities within Navy SSP. A broad goal of this position is to build a robust systems engineering capability in coordination with SSP that will drive value and affordability through adoption of state-of-the-art MBE tools and processes.

The Systems Engineer will:

- Drive requirements, architecture, and CONOPS development at the weapon system level for Life Extension 2 and other programs within SSP's portfolio

- Lead what-if studies at the weapon system level to ensure the SLBM deterrent can meet future mission requirements and defeat adversary threats

- Develop consistent trade study approaches that can be

implemented on a Command wide basis, and serve as the point of contact for system level models and analysis capability

- Elicit stakeholder needs and requirements at the weapon

system level, establish data and model structures, and derive architectures and interface documentation

- Enable Branch adoption of consistent trade study methodology, including, training development and

delivery, methodology and practice development, and outreach activities

Basic Qualifications:

- 10 years overall technical experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a systems engineering discipline

- Systems Engineering (or related) experience and familiarity with systems processes including one or more of the following:

1) requirements identification, decomposition and allocation

2) system CONOPS development

3) system architecture development

4) system integration and test

5) interface control document and element specification

development and management

6) planning or performance of requirement verification

- Ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance

Desired Skills:

- Demonstrated successful experience with Navy SSP customer

- Comprehensive understanding of relevant Systems

Engineering functions, responsibilities and technical domains

- Demonstrated capability to lead a systems or subsystems team

- Ability to accept responsibility, exercise authority, and be held accountable for assignments demonstrated through previous on-time, on-budget delivery meeting technical requirements

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and

interpersonal skills with peers, superiors, subordinates, and customers

- Development, test, launch, and sustainment for SLBM or

Strategic Missile Systems

- Project management skills, including budget control, planning, control account management, staffing, and resource utilization

- Working knowledge of architecture frameworks (DoDAF,

ToGAF, ABD, Harmony, etc.)

- Analysis / simulation development

- Systems Modeling Language (SysML) or Unified Modeling

Language (UML)

- Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (Rhapsody, MagicDraw/ Cameo, Enterprise Architect, DOORS, JAMA, etc...)

- Model automation and integration, tools such as Phoenix

Integration ModelCenter

- Test planning and execution, test automation

- Process development and deployment

- System-level missile system analysis

- Hardware and/or software test planning and/or execution
