Lockheed Martin Mechanical Engineer- Proficient in 3D modeling & ASME Y14.00 engineering drawings practices and related standards in Woodland, Washington
This position involves support of engineering project leads, design, test, production operations, and fielded products. The candidate will work with the entire LifePort team on-site in Woodland, WA as well as at offsite locations as required.
Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems for aircraft interior furnishings such as tables, bulkheads, cabinets, galleys and mission consoles for use in military and civilian aircraft. Applies research to the planning, design, development and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems and produces technical documentation and manufacturing drawings.
Works with a team of engineers and designers to product or update interior components and ensure designs meet customer and airworthiness requirements in accordance with contract and aviation requirements. This will include participation in peer and technical reviews interaction with other business functions, customers and manufacturing technicians. Typical work will include creating new designs, creation of 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks, evaluating engineering change requests, checking and approving manufacturing drawings and creating technical publications and reports.
Proficient in 3D modeling
Proficient in ASME Y14.00 engineering drawings practices and related standards
Familiarity with SAE AMS material standards and aerospace application
Capable of performing in a fast paces, dynamic environment, cable of working in an Inclusive team environment.
US Person as defined by the US State Department.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or a related discipline
Experience designing aircraft interior furnishings and secondary structures
Proficient in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drafting
Familiar with the use and applications of honeycomb composites
Working knowledge of FAA certification and approval processes for STCs and Field Approvals
Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
Familiar with ERP systems
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
Strong oral and written communications skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to travel
